Leaf Water

Micro hydro-electric plant

Design: Isao Hosoe with Lorenzo De Bartolomeis

Production: Loccioni, Italy, 2010

Leaf Water systems are designed to produce electric energy, exploiting flow power of existent  water courses.

Well known since a long time ago as the Archimedes’ wheel or screw, the hydraulic cochlea can transfer the energy to a rotating shaft to carry water upward. Applying the inverse functioning principle, potential energy is conveyed for the production of electric energy.

Integrating both function and design, Leaf Water systems can adapt at best to the environment and to the plant features, emphasizing the natural component, minimizing visual impact, while maximizing energy production.
