Dragon bench

Public art project

Design: Isao Hosoe

Production: Anyang Park, Korea, 2005

The dragon has lived in the Indus river for thousands of years. It has been considered as the divine body for the creativity and, usually staying in the river, he suddenly springs up from the water surface to fly up to the sky to make a short chat with sky divinities and comes down to his river.

The dragon is considered as a messenger capable to mix up and to combine the differences as sky and the ground. In this context the dragon is the trickster who stays in the middle (river) and is able to communicate with both the center and the periphery.

The Dragon bench, being at the side of the river, essential element of the Anyang Public Art Park, helps people to enjoy staying together, creating an enormous energy for their future.
